Moore second in two events
Collegiate Check-up
None of the athletes from opposing teams could keep up with Hannah Moore. Only her teammates kept her from the top spot.
Moore, a 2012 South Adams High School graduate, picked up two runner-up finishes for the Huntington University women’s track team April 17 as she led a trio of area athletes who competed at Manchester University’s Spartan Classic.
The sophomore was just five hundredths of a second from victory in the 5,000-meter run as she finished in 19 minutes, 38.01 seconds. She trailed fellow Forester Krista Wood as HU swept the top three positions.
Moore also placed second behind teammate Christine Sparks with a time of 11:58.9 in the 3,000 steeplechase.
Tim Lehman (South Adams – 2012) ran for the Goshen College men’s team, picking up a third-place finish in the 800 run. His time of 2:00.5 was two seconds off the winning pace.
He also joined Maple Leaf teammates Daniel Zelaya, Lucas Harnish and Luke Graber for third in the 4x400 relay in 3:29.2.
Megan Taylor (Jay County – 2011) placed 11th for the host Spartans in the 400 dash. She finished in 1:13.78.
