Moore takes leadership role

Hannah Moore was one of the top runners for the Foresters during her freshman season. She has already established herself as a leader again.
Moore, a 2012 South Adams High School graduate, and teammate Cendall Ogle led the NAIA No. 19 Huntington University women’s cross country team to the title Saturday at the Wabash College Hokum Karem.
The Foresters scored 16 points to win by four over DePauw in the five-team event.
Moore and Ogle posted a time of 23 minutes, 36.8 seconds, in the race in which runners alternated one-mile loops for a total of four miles. They placed third overall.
Drew Houck
Jay County – 2011
Opened his season with a top-10 finish Aug. 22 for the Indiana University East men’s golf team as it hosted the Indiana East Fall Tee-Off.
Houck posted a 78 in his opening round of the year at Highland Lake Golf Course.
He finished second on the Red Wolves’ squad and ninth overall as IU East was the runner-up to Cincinnati State in the six-team event.
The junior finished 16th with an 81 for the fourth-place Red Wolves on Aug. 29 in the seven-team Battle at Bloomington hosted by Indiana.
He was also 11th with a score of 124 on Aug. 27 in IU East’s 442-469 loss to Indiana Wesleyan at the Winchester 27-hole Shootout.
Katie Simmons
Jay County – 2012
Ran for the champion IPFW women’s cross country team as she led a group of three former Patriots who competed Saturday at the Manchester University Hokum Karem.
Simmons joined teammate Andrea Bell to take ninth-place in the 9,600-meter race. They posted a time of 37 minutes, 10 seconds.
Megan Taylor
Jay County – 2011
Turned in a top-15 finish for the host Spartans on Saturday at the Manchester Hokum Karem.
Taylor and teammate Cayla Pusey finished with a time of 39 minutes, 14 seconds. They took 14th place.
Eme Miller
Jay County – 2012
Was less than a minute behind Taylor as she ran for the Defiance College women’s cross country team at the event at Manchester.
Miller and Sadie Daeger posted a 17th-place finish to lead the Yellow Jackets. They had a time of 39 minutes, 54 seconds.
Kelsey Fiely
Fort Recovery – 2013
Got on the court for the University of Northwestern Ohio women’s volleyball team mostly as a serving specialist Friday and Saturday at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Labor Day Classic in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Fiely recorded two aces for the Racers in their 25-22, 22-25, 25-15, 25-17 victory over Southern University at New Orleans in the final match of the tournament. UNOH went 2-1 in Florida and is now 5-1 on the season.
Dylan Cope

Helped the Indiana University East men’s cross country team to a runner-up finish Friday as it hosted the three-team Regional Campus Rumble.
In his first collegiate meet, Cope turned in the No. 4 time for the Red Wolves. He was ninth overall in the 8K race in 32 minutes, 40 seconds.

Saw her first collegiate action Saturday for the Manchester University volleyball team at the Kalamazoo College Green Hornet Invitational.
Gillespie played for the Spartans in their 25-14, 16-25, 25-20, 25-19 victory over North Park. She recorded one dig.[[In-content Ad]]
