Moore third for Foresters
Collegiate Check-up
Hannah Moore led a group of three former Starfires who competed Saturday at the Grace College Invitational.
Moore helped the Huntington University women’s cross country team, which is ranked 23rd in the NAIA, to the championship as it finished with a perfect score of 15.
Tim Lehman, a 2012 South Adams High School graduate, was also part of a team title as he competed for the first-place Goshen College men’s squad. Allison Beitler (SAHS – 2010) ran for the Goshen women’s team, which finished in third place.
Moore (SAHS – 2012), who teamed with Krista Wood to finish second at the season-opening Wabash College Hokum Karem, finished third for the Foresters at Grace College with a time of 19 minutes, 39 seconds. She trailed Wood (19:28) and Gretchen Spahr (19:30) as Huntington swept the top five positions in the 5K race.
Lehman finished 24th overall and seventh on the Goshen men’s squad with a time of 27:42. Beitler was 38th for the Maple Leafs in the women’s race with a time of 22:58.
Katie Simmons
Jay County – 2012
Competed for the IPFW women’s cross country team Saturday as it lost to Ball State, Oakland and IUPUI while hosting the IPFW Invitational.
Simmons was the No. 6 runner on the Mastodon squad with a time of 20 minutes flat in the 5K event.
She was 22nd overall out of 41 athletes.
Dustin Wanner
South Adams – 2012
Helped the Taylor University football team’s defense Saturday in a 41-14 victory over Iowa Wesleyan.
Wanner made one tackle in the fourth quarter. He has two tackles in two games this year.
Maddie Moore
South Adams – 2009
Tied for second in shots on goal for the Bluffton University women’s soccer team Saturday in its 5-2 loss to Shawnee State.
Moore took two of the Beavers’ nine shots on goal in the game. She has one goal on the season for Bluffton (1-2).
Drew Houck
Jay County – 2011
Played for the Indiana University East men’s golf team in its 295-317 victory Saturday over Lourdes in the Red Wolves-Gray Wolves Challenge.
Houck finished 10th out of 13 players with an 85 at Winchester Golf Club. He was sixth on the IU East squad.
Megan Taylor
Jay County – 2011
Ran for the Manchester College women’s cross country team Saturday as it won the Back to the Nature Preserve Invitational hosted by Bluffton University.
Taylor finished as the No. 8 runner for Manchester in 26 minutes, 43 seconds in the 6K race.
