Museum says thank yous (9/27/05)

Letters to the editor

By To the editor:-

The Museum of the Soldier just finished the fourth annual BBQ chicken supper. This has become an annual fundraising activity to support the museum’s building remodeling program.

This year more than 700 tickets were sold and everyone enjoyed an excellent meal. Besides the Jay County area, guests came from a wide area, including Fort Wayne, Dayton, Celina, Coldwater, Muncie, Richmond, Huntington and Marion, to name a few places.

In order for this to be successful, thanks need to be extended to a wonderful cast of supporters.

They are: Clarel and Kay Strausburg, Jay Miller and Jay Beverage, May’s TV in Fort Recovery, Coca-Cola Bottling of Portland, Sgt. Chris Garlinger and the Portland National Guard Armory, John Knipp, Mike’s Rent-All and Gary Gibson and Boy Scout Troop 206.

Special thanks to The Performance Company from “Fiddler on the Roof,” to provide a musical program and the John, Janice and Brad Fisher for again doing a great job preparing great food.

Thanks also to the event chair Betty Williamson and her crew of volunteers who served the food and staffed the other activities during the supper. Many people assisted in selling tickets and helping behind the scenes, to all of them, thank you as well.

On behalf of the museum’s members and all veterans, again thank you to all of the above and the Jay County community.

Museum of the Soldier board of directors — Eugene Gillum, M.D., Art Hall, Matt Simmons, Mike Bettinger, Mike McBride, Brian Williamson, Debbie Waechter, Deb Price, Jim Waechter
