Nice job, Jack (12/24/04)

I truly believe that the true measure of a person’s greatness is not that they are strong, intelligent, rich or even brave, but in the fact that they have humility and great kindness.

I believe that Jack Ronald exhibits this trait of humility and great kindness to a remarkable degree. We have been having trouble having our evening paper delivered to the house. My wife had phoned The Commercial Review a few days earlier. Imagine our surprise when I answered a knock upon the door. There stood Jack Ronald, an umbrella over his head in the pouring rain, with the evening paper in his hand.

We stood there in stunned silence before I mumbled a thank you and took The Commercial Review from his hand. I believe that we should have asked him in for a cup of coffee, but I believe our brains had gone on vacation.
