Niekamp back to lead Fort schools
Fort Recovery School Board
FORT RECOVERY - A former superintendent of Fort Recovery Local Schools has been tapped to serve as interim superintendent there for one year.
Pat Niekamp, who served as superintendent for 13 years, is filling in until a new superintendent can be hired.
David Riel, who has been at Fort Recovery since 2004, recently resigned as superintendent to work as an assistant professor at his alma mater, Asbury College, Wilmore, Ky.
Niekamp is the only person who was interviewed for the one-year interim position.
Normally, interim positions are only for a few months, but school officials want to wait until late this fall or early next year to search for a new superintendent.
The contract with Niekamp will be from Aug. 1 to June 18, 2010. Niekamp will be paid $80,130.
Niekamp resigned from his position with the Auglaize County Educational Service Center.[[In-content Ad]]
