No. 2 Tigers defeat Indians (09/15/06)

VERSAILLES, Ohio - Fort Recovery's volleyball team suffered its first Midwest Athletic Conference loss of the season Thursday, 25-12, 25-21, 25-21 to the Division III No. 2 Versailles Tigers.
The Indians are now 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the MAC with the three losses coming against undefeated Division IV No. 2 Old Fort, Division IV No. 4 Lehman Catholic and Versailles (9-0).
Tiff Gaerke had team highs of 12 kills and two blocks in the defeat. She added 13 digs and one point.
Vicki Roessner added 19 digs and five points, and Abby Niekamp had 30 assists. Kinsey Wenning finished with eight kills, and Rachel Stahl scored five points.
Junior varsity
The Indians lost 25-17, 21-25, 25-21 to Versailles, falling to 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the MAC.
Kelsey Wuebker led Fort Recovery with eight digs while Annie Koesters had a team-high four blocks. Wuebker added six assists, five kills and four points, and Koesters finished with five kills and five points.
Nicole Pottkotter had 12 assists and seven points, and Heather Schmackers totaled seven points and six digs. LeAnne Tobin also finished with six digs.
Junior high
FORT RECOVERY - After they each picked up their first win Monday, Fort Recovery's seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams made it back-to-back victories Thursday.
The eighth graders finished off Union City 25-18, 27-25 and the seventh grade team won 25-2, 17-25, 25-18 as they both improved to 2-5.
Olivia Thien paced the eighth grade team with eight points and two kills. Megan Rammel also scored eight points, and Holly Thien had three kills and one block. Holly Brunswick finished with three assists.
Olivia Schwieterman and Danielle Bihn served the seventh graders to victory, each finishing with 17 points. Schwieterman had nine aces and three assists, Bihn notched six aces and Kara Faller had four kills.[[In-content Ad]]
