UNION CITY, Ohio - The shooting touch was back.
Just a night after struggling from the field in its second loss of the season, the Division IV No. 5 Fort Recovery High School boys basketball team hit for 53 percent Saturday in a 65-40 slaughter of the host Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks.
The Tribe shot just 31 percent Friday in a 62-49 loss to St. John's.
The Indians (17-2) rolled out to a 16-4 lead in the opening quarter Saturday. They pushed to an 11-point advantage on a Greg Kahlig hoop in the opening minute of the second quarter and led by double digits the rest of the way.
A 26-point third-quarter had Fort Recovery up by 33 heading into the final period.
Greg Kahlig bounced back from a difficult shooting night against St. John's to score 40 points on 16-of-25 shooting. He now ranks fourth in Midwest Athletic Conference history with 1,594 points, just 150 behind 2004 Versailles graduate Kyle Gehle.
The senior also had game highs of seven rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Cody Fiely added 10 points for Fort Recovery, which shot 27-of-44 (62 percent) from two-point range. He and Craig Tobe each grabbed six rebounds.
The Indians close the regular season Friday at New Bremen, and could earn a share of the Midwest Athletic Conference title for the first time since 1999 with a victory and a St. John's loss tonight to the Cardinals or Friday against Coldwater.
Kent Moneyworth paced Mississinawa Valley with nine points and seven rebounds. Trent Heitkamp added eight points as the Blackhawks shot just 29 percent from the field, including 21 percent in the first half.

Fort Recovery struggled to score in the opening half of a 54-46 loss to the Blackhawks.
Ryan Schoen and Chad Schroer each had nine points for the Tribe, which shot just 21 percent in the first half and trailed 31-11 at the intermission. Mason Evers added seven points, Trent Kaiser and Jared Kahlig each had eight rebounds.[[In-content Ad]]
