Not helping is biggest blooper
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
The bumper sticker on my Durango says, “Live so the preacher won’t have to lie at your funeral!”
I’m a bumper sticker reader and I have to admit some are hilarious and others are embarrassing. Such as a couple of church bulletin bloopers I spied lately:
“Our dear brother Harry has gone on to be the Lord.”
“Pastor is on vacation. Massages can be given to the church secretary.”
“For those of you who have children and don’t know it, we have a nursery downstairs.”
But the biggest blooper has to be when the Christian community doesn’t care for the poor and needy.
Have you read Matthew 25 recently? It talks about people being hungry, sick, naked, in jail and even thirsty!
It amazes me that the over 100 churches in Jay County cannot defeat the idea that it’s the government’s job to take care of these people.
If the thousands of believers in the message of Jesus would start practicing what Jesus told us to do — what a blessing it would be!
I started “Compassion Network” 44 years ago to search and find needy families. I am looking for givers — for people that want to plant seeds of love and sacrifice.
Has the Lord blessed you? Can you help me with needy families? We need food, gas vouchers, help with utilities, used furniture, etc.
So remember to get it right. And don’t make another blooper like this one:
“This being Easter Sunday, we will ask Mrs. Potter to come forward and lay an egg on the altar.”
Call “Compassion Network” today at (260) 726-7237 and talk to Pastor Phill Jellison about how you can invest in and bless families right her in Jay Land.
Thank you.
