Organizers thank prom helpers
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
On Saturday, April 21, Jay County High School held its annual junior-senior prom. The commons was transformed into a beautiful dancing area in the theme of “Midnight in Paris.” Many students, parents, staff and class sponsors worked very hard to make this a memorable night.
The junior class prom committee would like to thank Lori Reese and Christie Sommers, junior class sponsors, for all of their hard work. A thank you also goes out to: JCHS administration, faculty and staff who attended the prom or helped in some way; the Jay County Sheriff’s Department for assisting in the safety of all students and guests; Karmella VanSkyock, head of food services for Jay School Corporation.
A very big thank you to the more than 90 community businesses and organizations that came through with generous contributions which were greatly appreciated.
Thank you for supporting our youth.
Our prom committee worked hard for several months. This resulted in a smooth, organized and fun night for the students. Committee chairpersons were: Linda Gray, Rachel Price, Melissa Price, Tammy Bogenschutz, Donna Price, Kim McFarland, Shauna Runkle, Michelle Back, Cindy Hudson and Amy Reinhart. Thanks to all the parents who assisted these chairpersons.
Finally, thanks to all the students who attended, participated and behaved so well. Hopefully your memories of 2012 “Midnight in Paris” will remain a special part of your high school experience.
Sincerely,
Nancy Snyder and Gay Jobe, chairpersons, 2012 Prom Parent Committee
What do
they know?
To the editor:
Last year members of the Indiana Republican Central Committee asked Indiana State treasurer Richard Mourdock to run against Senator Lugar in the May 8, 2012 Republican Primary.
Before agreeing Mourdock asked all of the Indiana Republican County Chairman if they would endorse him.
Over 70 percent said that they would.
Many stated that they had never even seen our six term Senator in their district.
A couple months ago Delaware and Henry Counties held a straw poll where only precinct committeemen could vote. Over 80 percent voted for Mourdock.
These people were not right wing zealots, TEA Party members, or out of state Super PACS. They were intelligent, informed Indiana Republican Party insiders who know the issues and the candidate’s records.
If you are still a Lugar supporter you might want to ask yourself what they know that you don’t.
