Outgoing clerk says thanks (01/06/2009)
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
I would like to thank the citizens of Portland for having confidence in me to serve on city council and then as clerk-treasurer. It has been a huge learning experience because you can think things should be run such and such a way, but when you are the one having a voice in your local government it puts a whole new perspective on things.
I will continue to serve as your clerk-treasurer until Feb. 28. After much soul searching I have decided it is time for me to retire from the position. Mayor Bruce Hosier and I have had an excellent working relationship, not often found in other communities. It has been a pleasure working with him and council and seeing on-going projects for the betterment of Portland.
My staff has been very helpful during my term as clerk-treasurer and I thank them. I am grateful to have worked with excellent department heads and city employees.
Thank you for supporting me and allowing me to serve you.
Linda Kennedy
Clerk-Treasurer,
City of Portland
Congratulations
To the editor:
Congratulations to Miller's Merry Manor in Dunkirk for its recent Five-Star quality rating by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, a federal agency.
Nursing homes are rated overall on health inspections, nursing home staffing and quality measures. The more stars are better, with three stars as "average" and five stars "much above average."
I have appreciated the outstanding and loving care my mother, Sarah Ford, has received from the staff at Miller's Merry Manor.
You are the best and you have the stars to prove it.
Words cannot express my thanks.
