Pageant chair gives thanks
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
On behalf of the Portland Breakfast Optimist Club and the committee for the Miss Jay County Fair Queen pageant, I would like to thank the community for its support of this year’s pageant. We had 14 beautiful young ladies sponsored by 15 wonderful community sponsors.
We also had more than 90 county businesses that sponsored ads for the program for the pageant and an additional 10 sponsors who assisted with the cost of other pageant essentials or made donations such as Cook’s Nursery, Beyond the Gilded Willow and The Flower Nook. The queen’s crown was sponsored by the First Bank of Berne, and sashes for the queen and court were purchased by First Merchants Bank. Portana Travel and Jay Miller contributed to the trophies.
I would like to thank The Commercial Review staff for their excellent coverage of the banquet, pageant and fair week events. Also, thank you to WPGW for publicizing the event and covering the pageant on air.
If there are any county organizations and/or businesses that would like to be involved in this successful event, please feel free to contact the Portland Breakfast Optimists. We can always use help in defraying the cost of the lovely piece of jewelry that each candidate receives and other pageant expenses. This is truly a community project that we can be proud of.
Sincerely,
Julie K. Hunt, chairperson, Miss Jay County Fair Queen Pageant[[In-content Ad]]
