Parents of Trester winner say thanks (04/04/06)

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:

We as parents, would like to express our gratitude to ALL the communities in Jay County for such a wonderful display of support and pride in our Jay County Patriot boys basketball team. We would also like to thank the coaching staff for their efforts to mold this team into one of, if not the best, team Jay County has seen.

As for Tyler winning the Trester Award, It is a tremendous honor that could not have happened without the support of family, teachers, coaches, friends, and fans. We are deeply grateful to any and all of you that have supported and helped him in any way.

To seniors Zac Green, John Retter, and Randy Evans, thank you for all of the many memories you have left with us throughout the years. We want to wish all of you nothing but the best in your future plans.

Expo thanks

To the editor:

The Jay County Business Expo and Home Show was held recently on the same weekend that our Jay County Patriots were making history at semi-state. (Way to go Pats. We are all proud of you.) What a busy and exciting weekend.

The Expo committee received dozens of positive comments from both exhibitors and the public. With that in mind, I would like to thank all those who helped make this Expo one of the best ever.

First, thank you to all the local businesses, industries, and not-for-profits that participated in the event. Of course, I must especially thank the Major Sponsors FCC (Indiana), Sprint, Progressive Office Products, Jay County Hospital, Burkhart Advertising, and X-Plex. Every available booth space was spoken for, and those of you who exhibited should be proud. The overall appearance of the booths may have been the best ever. Having an exhibit requires a significant time commitment and a lot of work. Thank you for showing such dedication to your business and our community.

Next, thank you to every man, woman and child who attended that Expo. Without you there would be no event at all. I hope you took full advantage of all the entertainment, demonstrations, and exhibits organized for your enjoyment and education. Many of the exhibitors commented on the excellent public turnout for this year’s event. Once again, thank you.

I would also like to thank the Jay School Corporation and namely Jay County High School for the use of their wonderful facility. The custodial staff was superb as usual. It is always difficult and time consuming to have such an event in a school, but that was never more true than at this year’s Expo. With all the uncertainty surrounding the plans for the basketball team the school was very accommodating.

Finally, I must thank the Expo Committee. The 2006 Expo was a great success because of the tireless efforts of this group. I was so very impressed with how smoothly the entire event came together considering the incredible amount of work that was involved.

This committee organized demonstrations and entertainment, marketed and sold booth spaces, put out yard signs, administered a raffle, printed and folded programs, ran a food booth, helped in the Chamber booth, organized man power, helped set up, helped tear down, etc., etc., etc.

I’m sure I have missed some of the jobs they did, so I want to thank them all by name: Ron Laux, Andrew Morehouse, April Wallischeck, Gayle Broadwater, Leona Hill, Stephanie Arnold, Amy Peterson, Annette Alexander, Bob Quadrozzi, Jeanne Houchins, Mickey McBride, Wayne Blevins, Ryan Vannatter, Vickie Tague and Greg Franklin.

I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all of you, and I was very proud of all the work you did. It was my pleasure to work with each and every one of you. I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart.

See you next year!

Thank you,

Chad Young
