Parking lot will be paved (11/28/06)
Jay County Commissioners
By By MARY ANN LEWIS-
Jay County Commissioners will be working with county engineer, Dan Watson, to pave a county-owned now vacant lot north of the courthouse.
Commissioners earlier this year bought a building and lot along West Walnut Street and tore down the condemned building to provide overflow parking for courthouse employees and visitors
Commissioner Milo Miller Jr. said Monday afternoon the county owned a 44-foot by 132 foot section from an alley behind the Ritz Theater west and from Walnut Street north to an alley and will be paving that strip. Plans call for providing traffic access to the lot from Walnut Street to allow for more angled parking spaces.
He said he had talked with adjacent landowner Steve Barnett about paving additional footage, but Barnett was not interested at this time.
Additionally Monday afternoon, commissioners Miller, Gary Theurer, and Faron Parr heard Jay Emergency Medical Service director Teresa Foster-Geesaman say that the roof on the north side of the JEMS base has been leaking and Miller said he would take a look at the problem to see what needs to be done.[[In-content Ad]]
