Paxson joins board race (08/23/06)
There are now three candidates looking at the same seat on the Jay School Board, while the other three seats up for election have had no candidates file.
Larry J. Paxson, a retired school teacher and administrator in the Jay School Corporation, filed Tuesday afternoon to run for the District 5 seat.
Paxson, 773 West 200 South, Portland, is seeking the seat currently held by Doug Inman, who has indicated he will not seek re-election.
Paxson joins two others who are also vying for that seat. Ronald Laux, 2075 South Blaine Pike, and Mike Foreman, 1920 West Ind. 67, filed earlier this month, to gain the seat that represents Bearcreek and Jackson townships, and Wayne Township outside of Portland.
Anyone interested in running for the board has until noon on Friday to file a petition, said Jay County Clerk, Jane Ann Runyon. No other incumbent has yet filed, she said.
Other seats up for election in November are:
•District 1, City of Portland, the seat currently held by Bryan Alexander.
•District 2, City of Dunkirk, currently held by Mike Shannon.
•District 3, representing the townships of Penn, Jefferson, and Greene, currently held by Jay Halstead.[[In-content Ad]]
