PCC thanks supporters

Due to a concern among church and community leaders, the Pregnancy Care Center of Jay County was formed to address the needs of women facing crisis pregnancies. Located at Vormohr Medical Center, the Pregnancy Care Center opened under the direction of Lisa Frye in January 1994. Today, the center continues to minister to those who are facing crisis pregnancies as well as providing a variety of free services to area women and their families. The center serves approximately 100 clients per month.

Without the support of area churches, businesses, organizations and individuals, the center would not be able to continue to meet the needs of our clients. Although we have individually thanked our supporters, we would like to thank you publicly for your past support of the center and your continued support. Words cannot describe the blessings that you have bestowed upon us during the past 10 years.

The Pregnancy Care Center held our annual Fall Feast for Life Dinner on Oct. 9. We were (and are) very fortunate to have a variety of supporters that evening. Words cannot express our gratitude to Asbury United Methodist Church and Pastor Greg Rittenhouse for the use of the facilities for the dinner. Thank you to Bright Beginnings Day Care for their footprints, Fisher Meats for the meal, WPGW for the interview, the Rev. Hugh Kelly, and Tom Frye and Westchester United Methodist Church Signs of Hope for the wonderful entertainment and messages through music. We are very appreciative of the following businesses and individuals who defrayed the cost of the dinner: Dr. Steve and Connie Myron, Barry and Elizabeth Hudson, Miller Aviation (David and Michele Miller), First Bank of Berne and Jay Petroleum/Pak-A-Sak.

A new feature this year was our inaugural silent auction during the dinner. We would like to thank the following for their generous donations for the auction: Bruce Summerfield, Photography by Giles, Dahla Townsend, Cook’s Nursery and Trim, Clear Chiropractic, The Flower Nook, Hunt’s Emporium, Locker’s Country Gifts, Portland Motor Parts, New Body Fitness Center, Progressive Office Products, Sugar N Slice Pastry Shoppe, Tom Frye, Steve McIntosh, Rev. Ava Gannon, Barbara Stump, Mary Dean Brackman, Angie Reinhart and many who wish to remain anonymous. Without your generous donations and support, the auction would not have been a success.

We would also like to thank the Pregnancy Care Center board members and volunteers who helped us with preparations before, during and after the banquet. Furthermore, we would like to thank everyone who attended the banquet, made a donation, or purchased an item at the silent auction.

Without each and every one of you, the dinner would not happen, nor would it be the success that it was. You are indeed a blessing to the ministry of the Pregnancy Care Center.

Additionally, because our clientele has increased, to better meet their needs and serve them, the Pregnancy Care Center has moved to 111 W. Main St., Portland. We are extending an invitation to the center’s open house on Nov. 5, 2004 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you would like to learn more about the variety of services the center offers and how you may help, do not hesitate to contact the center at (260) 726-8636.

Lastly, we invite you to experience the testimony of artist Bruce Summerfield on Nov. 11, 2004. Fellowship Baptist Church has graciously offered their facilities for the evening. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. For those with young children, baby-sitters will be provided.

Words cannot express the blessings you have bestowed upon the Pregnancy Care Center. Your continuous support of the center through your gifts, prayers, talents and time enriches the lives of our clients.

Thank you,

Lana Hilty and Lori McIntosh,

co-chairs, Pregnancy Care Center of Jay County 2004 Fall Feast for Life Committee
