Pearson sworn in as member of Fort board (01/05/06)

Fort Recovery Village Council

By By MARY ANN LEWIS-

FORT RECOVERY — Scott Pearson was sworn in as the newest member of Fort Recovery’s village council during its first meeting of the year Tuesday.

Pearson was elected to the seat in November, beating out the only woman to serve on the board, Diana Grile.

Three incumbents — Rod Thobe, Dave Bretz and Dave Garman — were also sworn in for four-year terms.

Thobe was re-elected president of the board, a position he has held for 14 years.

In other business Tuesday night, village administrator, Randy Diller, told council members that bid specifications for the Buck Ditch storm sewer replacement project are expected to be completed in the next few weeks.

Engineer Jeff Puthoff from Choice One Engineers will also be submitting the plans to Ohio Environmental Protection Agency for approval on the changes to the diversion structure.

Diller also said a new lighting system at Fort Site Park is being considered and replacement of lights and pole could cost as much as $45,000. He noted that if the project gets underway, the Fort Recovery Lions Club has pledged $25,000 toward the project to be paid over five years.

“It’s only in the planning stages,” Diller said. “I just want council to be aware of the discussion.”

A flashing light near Fort Recovery High School at Elm and Butler Streets has been repaired, Diller said.

Diller said the pole holding the light was struck and broken recently by a semi rig that turned too sharply. A new pole has been installed farther back on the northwest corner of the intersection and the light was put back into place.[[In-content Ad]]
