Pool hours stable (03/07/07)
Portland Park Board
By By RACHELLE HAUGHN-
Hours for Portland Pool will remain the same this summer.
Members of the Portland Park Board agreed to have the hours of operation as Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The pool also will be open Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.
There also will be adult swimming on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The pool will open for the season on Saturday, May 26.
In a related matter, Jennifer Snow, pool manager, told board members she would turn her duties over to assistant pool manager Rachel McKee in June. Snow is expecting a baby at the end of that month. Board president Neil Medler said that would be fine.
In other business, board members gave Jeff Harker, street and park department superintendent, permission to purchase a new riding lawnmower and two weed trimmers.
The Toro Z-Master mower will be purchased from Hull Brothers, Inc., Fort Recovery, at a cost of $3,593. The cost was reduced by $7,430 for the trade-in of the city's 2001 Toro mower.
Hilty Engine Inc. of rural Berne also submitted a quote of $5,745, with $1,750 for the trade-in, and John's Small Engine Inc. of rural Redkey submitted a quote of $7,561 with no trade-in discount.
Harker said this morning he didn't know why Hull Brothers offered so much for the trade-in.
The Hull Brothers quote was selected because it is the lowest.
"That's a good deal," Medler said before voting.[[In-content Ad]]
