Positive points in Portland
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
I recently was through Portland visiting a friend in Union City after his mother passed away. On the way home, we stopped for dinner at Margarita’s Restaurant in Portland. Several days later I realized my debit card was missing. After my initial “where in the world is my card” feeling, I figured it must still be in Portland. My card was safe and sound at the restaurant. In a world where goodness is sometimes hard to find, there are some good people in Portland.

Benefit thanks
To the editor:
The John Jay Center would like to express our gratitude to a variety of people who assisted with the John Jay Center Antique Benefit Auction held August 17, 2012.
The benefit raised over $3,000 that will help expand our curriculum development, improve building maintenance, and increase our overall general fund.
We want to thank Loy’s Auctioneering for donating their time and talent in preparing for the event. We also would like to thank Dave Tarter, Don Osterman and Mike Italiano for lending their vast array of knowledge for the antiques and treasures brought into the center for appraisal along with Rob Weaver, John Boggs, and Jack Ronald for assisting in advertising.
A big thanks to all who participated in this event, hopefully everyone discovered some treasures!
We would like to extend a special thank you to Aaron Loy and Loy Auctioneering. The Loy’s team did a fantastic job in assisting with the full circle of events, from preparation to auction; it made the event enjoyable for everyone. I would also like to thank Tom Young, Jennifer Inman, Buffalo Wings and Rings, Barry Hudson, John Goodrich, Bollenbacher and Associates, WPGW, The Anderson Group, Dru Hall, The Ft.
