Fort Recovery volleyball
FORT RECOVERY - When Nicole Pottkotter wasn't setting up her teammates, she was taking care of business herself.
The Fort Recovery High School sophomore powered the Indian volleyball team Monday as it jumped back to .500 thanks to a 25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 25-10 victory over the Arcanum Trojans.
Pottkotter led the Indians in assists (22) and points (17) as they improved to 4-4 on the season. She was also second on the squad with eight kills.
Senior Kinsey Wenning turned in a team-high 12 kills against Arcanum (7-3), and scored a third of her nine points on aces. Sarah Braun racked up 10 blocks and eight kills.
Emily May finished with nine digs, Heather Schmackers had eight digs and Kelsey Wuebker totaled four blocks.
Junior varsity
Chelsey Leuthold powered the Indians to a quick victory as they stayed unbeaten with a 25-7, 25-8 win over Arcanum (3-5).
Leuthold was lethal from behind the service line, finishing the evening with 23 points. She also had seven kills.
Carly Staugler added seven assists for Fort Recovery (5-0), and Josie Guggenbiller had six assists. Lauren Staugler totaled three kills, Olivia Thien had three blocks and Alyssa Brackman notched three digs.
Freshman
Fort Recovery pushed to 4-3 on the season with a 25-9, 25-16 victory over the Greenville Green Wave behind Kendra Brunswick's trio of team highs.
Brunswick paced the Indians with 12 points while also sharing team-best marks in assists (three) and kills (two). Haley Wilson added eight points and three digs, and Nichole Kaiser totaled three assists and two kills.
Caitlin Gehret also had two kills, and Renee Fortkamp and Gena Wendel each chipped in two digs.
Junior high
CELINA, Ohio - The Indians split their matches against the Celina Bulldogs, with the seventh graders scoring a 25-21, 25-9 victory while the eighth grade team lost 25-21, 25-11.
Chelsea Pottkotter powered the victory for the Fort Recovery seventh graders (2-3) with 13 points. Elizabeth Wendel had eight points, and Emily Link added six points.
Olivia Schwieterman, Mikayla Westgedes and Ericka Lennartz each had four points as the eighth graders slipped to 1-4. Kylie Kahlig and Kara Faller added two blocks apiece.[[In-content Ad]]
