Pottkotter leads Polar Bear spikers
Collegiate Check-up
Nicole Pottkotter nearly matched her career high for assists. And she did it in only four games.
The 2010 Fort Recovery High School graduate racked up 47 assists Friday as she helped lift the Ohio Northern University volleyball team to a 25-16, 25-21, 22-25, 25-17 victory over John Carroll.
Her career high of 49 came in a five-game loss to Concordia.
Pottkotter also had four digs, two kills, and one block as Ohio Northern picked up its 16th win of the season and improved to 6-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. She added four assists and a dig Tuesday as the Polar Bears fell in four games to Division III No. 13 Heidelberg.
Cori Vormohr
Jay County – 2009
Helped the Ball State University women’s swim team to victory Oct. 9 as it hosted the Ball State Relay Invitational.
Vormohr contributed to a pair of second-place relay finishes at the four-team event, the first coming as she teamed with freshmen Jackie Iglesias, Victoria Fairfield and Chelsey Young for the runner-up spot in the 500-yard freestyle relay in 4:53.92. She also joined Sumaiyah Ahmad, Dana Graunke and Jennifer Miles in posting a time of 1:43.77 for second place in the 200 freestyle relay. Cardinal teams also took first place in both of those events.
The sophomore added a third-place finish with Catherine Ingram and Ahmad in the 300 breaststroke relay in 3:35.01.
Allison Beitler

Turned in the top time for the Goshen College women’s cross country team Saturday at the Great Lakes Invitational hosted by Aquinas College.
Beitler finished 72nd overall in the field of 180 runners. She crossed the finish line in 20 minutes, 4.42 seconds, more than 45 seconds ahead of her closest teammate.
Tiff Gaerke
