Pottkotter's Bears are 4-0

A former Indian has helped the Ohio Northern University volleyball team get off to a perfect start.
Nicole Pottkotter, a 2010 Fort Recovery High School graduate, turned in her best effort with four kills Saturday in the Polar Bears’ 25-22, 17-25, 29-31, 25-21, 18-16 comeback win over Trine.
The ONU sophomore also had a dig in the victory.
Pottkotter, who was a setter for Ohio Northern last year before switching to outside hitter this year, finished with three digs apiece in victories Friday over Defiance and Sept. 1 over Thiel.

Allison Beitler
South Adams – 2010
Teamed with Becca Augsberger as the Maple Leafs women’s cross country team finished first while hosting the season-opening Goshen College Hokum Karem.
Beitler and Augsberger teamed to finish ninth in the relay event in which athletes alternate running a 1-mile distance for a total of a 6-mile course. They finished in 44 minutes, 59 seconds.

Megan Adams
Jay County – 2008
Helped the Huntington University women’s tennis team to a 9-0 victory Sept. 1 over Defiance.
Adams earned her victory at No. 5 singles by a 6-2, 7-5 score over Tasha Brown.

Mark Mattraw
Fort Recovery – 2010
Saw playing time for the University of Toledo football team Saturday in its 58-22 victory over New Hampshire.The red-shirt freshman offensive lineman came off the bench in the victory.

Frank Thien
Fort Recovery – 2009
Got on the field Saturday in the Ohio Northern University football team’s 38-20 win over visiting North Carolina Wesleyan.
Thien, a junior wide receiver, came in off the bench for the Polar Bears, who pulled away with 31 points in the second half.[[In-content Ad]]
