Prayers asked for troops (1/28/05)

Editor's Mailbag

By To the editor:-

I almost hate bringing this subject up, but I promised our son Erik we would put in a request for extra prayers this week. Our military in Iraq is facing a history-making happening this week; the citizens get to vote (Sunday) and elect those who will be writing their first constitution.

Not only do we need prayers for safe voting polls, but pray for protection of our soldiers as they make those areas safe for the people of Iraq. The insurgents are strong and numerous and are there to see the elections are foiled. They will kill Americans instantly, along with the Iraqi people and Iraqi troops.

When we pray for our military leaders, also we must pray for the evil to leave the hearts and minds of those murderers.

Please request prayers at your churches. Please pray for our sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives and grandchildren overseas.

Please pray for us as we wait, cry, pray, wait, cry, and pray.

When I know my child is in harm’s way and can’t physically help him, I feel helpless. I pray for his safety and strength, along with all the other soldiers overseas. To put this in God’s hands is just a prayer away. Please pray.

Proud parents of a soldier,

Deb and Ralph Caffey
