Project figures checked
Redkey Council
By Robert Banser-
REDKEY - Town council members are continuing to check over final figures for claims related to a $2 million water system improvement project.
As a result, final action on payment requests was tabled for further review at Monday night's meeting of the Redkey Council. Clerk-treasurer Sandy Kirby said the issues to be resolved are relatively minor and final payment checks are expected to be released soon.
The overall project included demolition of the old water tower and construction of a new, larger one by Phoenix Fabricators and Erectors of Avon; water line improvements by Brackney Corporation, Brookville; and upgrading the water plant by Mid States Construction Company, Redkey.
The town was able to undertake the project with help from an Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs grant as well as a low-interest federal loan from the United States Department of Agriculture.
In other business at Monday night's meeting, town council members:
•Discussed the possibility of applying for grant money to have Redkey's Morgan Park parking lot area paved near the park cabin so that facility could be used as a polling place.
•Were reminded that due to the Christmas and New Year's holidays, trash pickup dates for the next two weeks would be changed from the normal Friday dates to Saturdays, Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.
•Announced that the town hall would be closed for Christmas on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 24 and 25, and again for the New Year's holiday on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.[[In-content Ad]]
