Project is still on hold
Jay County Regional Sewer District
Another month. Same delay.
The Jay County Regional Sewer District canceled its meeting Monday evening due to a lack of new business to address. The board is still waiting on the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development office to release funding for the project.
“There’s nothing new,” said board president Gerald Kirby. “We’re just waiting.”’
The district is still waiting on release of funds for three planned sewer installations — the Foxfire Drive/Ind. 67 project southwest of Portland, the Skeens Addition project north of Dunkirk and the Willow Drive/Arlington Avenue project on Dunkirk’s south side.
The sewer district was awarded the Rural Development funding in April, bid the three sewer projects in September, and secured sewage treatment agreements with Dunkirk and Portland in early January. Since that time, the district has been waiting for Rural Development to allow it to close on its grant/loan package.
“I’m not aware of anything the district can do to speed the process up at all,” Kirby said. “Even after we get the word, we’re still looking at about a month.
“I’m expecting to hear something on it any day,” he said.[[In-content Ad]]
