Protection for the innocent

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:
I have shot my mouth off at other times, so another time will not surprise a lot of people.
I hope the readers of The Commercial Review can stand another letter concerning the murders in Newtown, Conn. This letter will not be a letter about gun control, even though I am a gun owner and have some very strong feelings concerning the issue. I am also a member of the NRA. I will only say there never was a gun that got up one morning and decided to go murder someone.
Therefore, we must be dealing with a mental issue and/or a moral issue. Now I know what I am about to say could be controversial. There is an old saying: “Out of sight; out of mind.”
Let me explain. I am the father of three; the grandfather of eight and the great-grandfather of 11. If anything happened to any one of them, I would be heartbroken to the very depth of my being.

Here is where the controversy comes in. If I see or hear one more newsperson or government official tell me how appalled they are that anyone would murder 20 innocent babies, or our president hang his head and say this is the worst day of his presidency, I only shake my head and say, out of sight; out of mind.
Mr. President and Congress, if you are appalled and this is the worst day of your presidency, then every day should be your worst because of all the babies that are murdered right out of their mother’s womb.
I am not an expert on human behavior, but when innocent life means so little to people that claim to be so wise and of good moral conscience, then it is a stretch to say that someone with less of a sense of right and wrong would do such a terrible act.
Just a parting thought. If you claim to be a Christian, remember it all started with a baby.
