Quality of hospital care praised (09/11/07)

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:

We are the daughters of Irene R. Murphy, who was recently a patient at Jay County Hospital.

During each of her hospitalizations she was treated with the highest level of care from everyone with whom she had contact.

From the emergency room staff, the medical staff, the food service staff, the therapists, the discharge planner, the patient care representative and anyone else whom we might have failed to mention individually and, most importantly, the nursing staff, mother and her family received patience, care and kindness.

We are especially grateful to the nursing staff for the way they treated us. They offered us blankets, pillows, drinks, snacks, meal trays and anything else we might have needed while we were staying with mother. We told them more than once that we thought they provided better service than the Holiday Inn.

We have thanked them to the best of our ability, but since we would have made it known if we thought that our treatment was lacking in any way, we thought that we should make it known that we think that the care all three of us received was above and beyond what was required from a medical or business aspect.

Why?

To the editor:

To the vandals who have attacked our residence every night for the past week: First you broke a window and now you egg our home each night. Why are you doing this? We don't bother anyone. What you are doing is very cowardly.

Parking issue

To the editor:

This summer we attended a couple of programs at the fairgrounds.

Of course, we had to park in the "back 40." Why on earth isn't it marked so people can find their vehicle without walking and walking?

Many people were like us, walking and looking. It is ridiculous the way it is now.

Surely it can be marked in some way to make it easier to find one's vehicle. Please, fair board, work on this.

Thanking you in advance.

Good coverage

To the editor:

The Commercial Review certainly gave the Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Show excellent front page coverage on Saturday, Aug. 25. Rachelle Haughn wrote a great Oliver Gang story.

In fact, a man who read the story sent his wife to the show to get more information about the Oliver Gang. Since they have Oliver tractors they may join the Oliver Gang.

We had 90 people enjoy the delicious banquet at Jay County High School Saturday evening. The family of the year award was given to Ken and Ruth Parrish of Monroe, Ind.

Bringing a tractor the greatest distance was Marvin and Penny Hiler of Scottsburg, Ind.

The most recent restoration was by Robert Jarret of Ridgeville, and the Jarret family brought the most tractors (27).

They also brought that very interesting Oliver tractor painted pink.

Some of the Oliver ladies sang the song "Old Friends." The last line is "old friends, I'm a rich millionaire in old friends."

Thank you for being a friend to the Oliver Gang.
