Fort Recovery Village Council

FORT RECOVERY - Village council answered a number of questions during a public meeting earlier this month for residents affected by the upcoming water line replacement project on George Street and Hickory Circle.
"There was a good turnout," village administrator Randy Diller said adding that 18 out of 27 residents that live in those areas were at the meeting.
Besides replacing the water line and making adjustments to the storm drains, new street lights and curbs will be added to the areas affected by the project.
Construction is expected to start in late July or early August, Diller said.
In other business this week, Diller reported that an archaeologist was in the village on Sunday and completed an archaeological study on ground in Fort Site Park.
The archaeologist's report will be part of the environmental report that along with the engineers report will be submitted for the village's planned Buck Ditch storm sewer replacement project, Diller said.
Also Monday, council members:
•Voted to enter into a four-year garbage collection contract with Mike Maharg of Celina, Ohio. Maharg currently handles the village trash collections.
During the first two years of the contract the cost of trash bags will be $1.30 a bag, an increase from $1.20, and during the third and fourth years of the contract prices will increase to $1.35 per bag.
Prices per bag for recycling and yard waste will remain the same. Recycling bags are 65 cents and yard waste bags are $1.
•Approved an annual contract with Mercer County for ambulance services. The village will pay $3,182.50 for services or $2.50 per resident.
•Approved resolutions to transfer $4,500 from the water revenue fund to the water debt fund, $3,500 from the income tax fund to the industrial park debt fund, $209.03 from the general fund to the cemetery fund.
•Approved a wage ordinance amendment which increased pay for lifeguards from $5 an hour to $5.50 an hour.[[In-content Ad]]
