Rangers rally vs. the Fort (09/22/06)

NEW KNOXVILLE, Ohio - Fort Recovery pushed the third-ranked team in the state about as far as it could, but the New Knoxville Rangers would not break.
The Indians had a two games to one lead only to drop the final pair in a 23-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 17-15 loss to Division IV No. 3 New Knoxville.
Senior setter Abby Niekamp put up 45 assists as Fort Recovery dropped to 2-2 in the Midwest Athletic Conference and 7-4 overall. She also had a team high of nine blocks to go along with nine digs, two kills, two points and an ace.
Two-thirds of the Tribe's assists against the Rangers (10-1), whose lone loss came against Division III No. 2 Versailles, went to senior middle-hitter Tiff Gaerke. She finished with 32 kills and five blocks.
Brittany Brackman totaled 15 digs and 10 points, Vicki Roessner had 10 digs and eight points and Rachel Stahl notched nine digs and eight points. Joanna Snyder scored 11 points, Sara Braun had five blocks and Lauren Wenning and Kinsey Wenning each finished with 11 kills.

The Indians missed their opportunity in the first game and couldn't come all the way back in a 27-25, 13-25, 25-16 loss to New Knoxville.
Kelsey Wuebker led the Indians' offense with 11 kills. She also had 11 digs, eight assists, three points and a block.
Heather Schmackers finished with 18 digs and 10 points. Nicole Pottkotter had 13 assists and seven kills, and Anne Koesters had 10 points and eight blocks.
EJMS tops Indians
East Jay's eighth grade volleyball team defeated Fort Recovery 25-19, 25-20 for its second win of the season, and the seventh grade Chiefs also topped the Tribe 16-25, 25-20, 15-14.
Laura Castillo paced the East Jay eighth graders (2-7) with eight points, including four aces. Abby Denney had three blocks and a pair of aces.
The Indians got seven points, three aces, three kills and two assists from Holly Brunswick. Barbie Link and Haley Wilson each had six points and one dig.
Mariah Hornaday racked up 10 points and a pair of kills to lead the Chiefs' seventh grade team to victory. Randa Gillespie had eight points, Whitney Somers followed with seven and Danielle Wellman added six.
Danielle Bihn had seven points and two kills for Fort Recovery. Olivia Schwieterman scored eight points and Ericka Lennartz had six points and two digs.[[In-content Ad]]
