xVERSAILLES, Ohio - The Indians couldn't stop Justine Raterman. Then again, few teams can.
Raterman torched the Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team for 26 points Thursday in leading her Versailles Tigers to a 58-33 victory.
Seven of the points for Raterman, who is signed to play at the University of Dayton next year, came during an 11-0 run as Versailles took control in the first quarter. With her team trailing 4-2 early, Raterman turned in a three-point play to start the rally. She added two more hoops while Karen Smith and Emily Bohman each chipped in one, helping push the Tigers to a 17-6 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

The Indians (1-2, 0-1 Midwest Athletic Conference) managed just six points again in the second quarter and three in the third while Versailles pushed its lead to as many as 31 points.
Raterman shot 11-of-15 for her game-high total, and just missed a double-double with nine rebounds. She was 4-of-4 from the foul line and added four steals and an assist.
Olivia Liette added 10 points for the Tigers (4-0, 1-0 MAC). Bohman had six rebounds and four assists, and Smith finished with seven points and five steals.
Junior Joanna Snyder was the only Indian in double figures as she scored 14 points. Nicole Pottkotter hit all of her four free throws and her only 3-point attempt to finish with seven points, and Anne Koesters had team highs of six rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
Pottkotter also had three steals for the Indians.
Fort Recovery struggled from the field, shooting just 24 percent in the second half and 27 percent for the game.
Junior varsity
Fort Recovery survived a fourth-quarter rally from the Tigers for a 45-41 victory.
The Indians outscored Versailles in each of the first three quarters to lead by 12 with six minutes to play. The Tigers came back with a 16-8 advantage in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
Kendra Brunswick hit 7-of-11 from the field for 19 points to pace Fort Recovery, which shot 64 percent in the second half and 56 percent for the game. Abby Huelskamp was good on all of her four field-goal attempts for eight points, Kelsey Brockman had four assists and Alyssa Brackman grabbed four rebounds.
Megan Campbell was 6-of-10 shooting as she totaled 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists, all team bests, for Versailles. Lauren Rindler shot 4-of-6, including 3-for-3 from long distance, for 11 points to go along with six rebounds.[[In-content Ad]]
