Redskin teams defeat Fort Recovery (04/27/06)

St. Henry had to wait a day, but still made life miserable for the Fort Recovery Indians.

The softball and baseball games postponed because of rain Tuesday were made up Wednesday with the Redskins winning both. Fort Recovery’s baseball team lost 8-5 at St. Henry while the Indian softball team hosted the Redskins and suffered a 6-4 defeat.

Kinsey Wenning took the softball loss, allowing six runs — four earned — on seven hits and two walks. She struck out three batters.

The Tribe baseball team (8-7, 1-3 Midwest Athletic Conference) trailed 8-1 before scoring two runs in the sixth and seventh innings for the final margin. Brad Fortkamp allowed eight runs — five earned — on seven hits and two walks in 32/3 innings in the defeat.

Curt Heitkamp led the offense, finishing 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Kevin Schoenherr added two hits and two runs.

Michael Trobridge also had two hits, and Toby Metzger doubled and scored once.

The Indian softball team (6-12, 1-2 MAC) got a 2-for-3 effort from Renee Evers. She had a triple, a run and an RBI. Kinsey Wenning tripled and drove in a run.

Jennifer Link and Ciera Rammel each had a hit and a run, and Kelsie Will and Val Fortkamp both finished with a hit and an RBI.

Junior varsity softball

ST. HENRY, Ohio — Fort Recovery had some offense, but not nearly as much as the home team as it fell 24-9 to the Redskins.

Joanna Snyder took the loss, pitching 12/3 innings. St. Henry scored 11 times in the second inning and 12 in the third in the five-inning win.

Snyder paced the offense with a pair of doubles and two RBIs.

Kyla Metzger doubled and scored three times, and Ashley Grube finished with two runs.

FORT RECOVERY — The Indians managed just a pair of hits in a 6-0 loss to St. Henry.

Craig Garman took the loss as he tossed five innings. He struck out six and walked one.
