Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
The Fourth of July is coming up and we will be celebrating our freedom. But soldiers on the other side of the world can’t enjoy cookouts, parades and fireworks because they are fighting for our freedom. We can help them enjoy the Fourth of July by sending care packages and letters.
I am trying to raise money to send as many soldiers as I can a care package. I have been selling lemonade and cookies to earn money.
I would also like to thank my parents, my aunt Lori McIntosh, my grandma Karen Vance and my friends Justin, Kim and Austin Jellison and Amy Minnich for volunteering their time. I would also like to give a special thanks to Norma Whitacre, who has offered to pay for all of the shipping costs through the Andrew Whitacre Memorial Fund.
If businesses or members of the community would like donate items for the care packages please contact my mom at (260) 251-2434 or by e-mail at [email protected]. Some items that would be good to include in care packages are beef jerky, canned chicken or tuna, packets to flavor bottles of water, foot powder, soap, deodorant, suncreen, bug spray, etc.
Sincerely,
Joe Hilty (10-years-old),
