Remember to care for pets during holiday
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
Christmas is a good time of the year, but we sometimes forget what Christmas is all about. It is not about getting gifts. It is about giving to the people in need. Also it is about your pet’s needs. Be good to your pets by giving them food, water and shelter. Remember to give to the needy and take care of your pets. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Treat thanks
To the editor:
The 2010 Trick or Treat for the Food Bank event was very successful thanks to the caring people who live in Jay County. The generosity of our community helped stock the shelves of the Helping Hand Food Bank with more than 600 greatly needed items. Donations of $97 were also collected. Once again it was great to see citizens of all ages working together to help others.
In addition to the collection event held Halloween weekend, this year a challenge went out to all schools in the Jay School Corporation. Schools were asked to raise one can of food for each student enrolled and a $50 donation would be made to their area food bank in honor of their school.
Three Jay County Schools accepted the challenge. Congratulations to Pennville Elementary School, East Elementary School and Jay County High School. The students and staff of these schools worked very hard and greatly exceeded their goals.
For their continued support, a big thank you goes out to: Jay County Chamber of Commerce, McDonald’s of Portland, Dunn Family Dental Care, WPGW radio, Jay School Corporation, The Commercial Review, CrossRoads Federal Credit Union and the Dave Hemmelgarn family.
Please continue to remember the needs of all area food banks and give a “treat” whenever it is possible during this holiday season.
Sincerely,
Alex Dunn
