Reynard wins 400 hurdles

A Wildcat was fast. Brandon Reynard was faster.
The 2009 Jay County High School graduate won one event and contributed to a relay victory for the Indiana Tech men’s track team at Saturday’s Bellarmine Classic.
Reynard’s individual victory came in the 400-meter hurdles as he fought off Kentucky’s Brandon Bagley. He posted a time of 53.46 seconds to win by just seven hundredths of a second.
The junior also ran the anchor leg as he joined teammates Jordan Foster, Austen Barnes and D’Quan Ruth to win the 4x400 relay in 3 minutes, 14.43 seconds.

Jordan McMillan
Jay County - 2011
Earned one of the seven victories for the Ball State University women’s track team Saturday at the eight-team Redhawk Invitational hosted by Miami.
McMillan took the 100-meter dash in a photo finish as she posted a time of 12.8 seconds. She was just three hundredths of a second ahead of Xavier senior Emily Tyler.
The freshman added a third-place finish in the 200 dash in 26.39.

Josh Ludy
Jay County – 2008
Was one of eight players to record a hit for the NCAA Division I No. 2 Baylor University baseball team in Saturday’s 15-5 victory over 25th-ranked New Mexico State.
Ludy went 1-for-2 with an RBI double to center field in the fourth inning. He later scored for the Bears (38-8) on a single by Dan Evatt.
He also had a hit, a run and an RBI in a 5-0 win over the Aggies on Friday.

Amanda Johnson
Jay County – 2008
Turned in a second-place finish to help the host Indiana Wesleyan University women’s track team to the Mid-Central Conference championship.
Johnson placed fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 17.66 seconds for the Wildcats, who scored 195 points to finish 25 ahead of runner-up Bethel.
The senior joined Christina Sandberg, Kayla Ewert and Amanda Wolfe to finish second in the 4x800 relay in 9:20.28. She also teamed with Allix Miller, Kyla Morgan and Tracey Tiernon to earn the runner-up spot in the 4x400 relay in 4:00.75.
Sam Heckard

South Adams – 2010
Also competed at the Mid-Central Conference Championships for the Bethel University men’s track team.
Heckard posted a time of 38 minutes, 15.34 seconds to place 16th in the 10,000-meter run. The Pilots scored 140 points to finish third in the nine-team field behind Indiana Wesleyan and Spring Arbor.

Pazia Speed
Jay County – 2010
Helped the Huntington University softball team build a three-run lead before it fell 6-4 to Spring Arbor Wednesday in the opening round of the Mid-Central Conference Tournament at Indiana Wesleyan.
Speed smacked an RBI double in the third inning and scored later in the inning on a sacrifice fly by Brita Kuiper to put the Foresters (28-17) up 4-1. Spring Arbor scored once in the fourth inning and four ties in the seventh to take the win.
The sophomore also scored a run April 26 in a 7-3 win over Calumet.

Megan Taylor
Jay County – 2011
Competed for the Manchester College women’s track team Saturday as it placed third out of 10 teams at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Franklin.
Taylor’s top individual finish came in the 1,500-meter run, in which she was ninth in 5 minutes, 16.84 seconds. She posted a time of 2:27.64 for 10th place in the 800 run.
The freshman also teamed with Emma Weiler, Meredith Cors and Brianna Martinez for eighth in the 4x400 relay in 4:28.02.
Billy Wellman
Jay County – 2009
Was one of just three players to record multiple hits for the Ball State University baseball team in its series against Toledo.
Wellman had a single Sunday as the Cardinals (11-29) dropped a 10-3 decision to Toledo.
He notched a double while going 1-for-3 in Friday’s 5-0 loss to the Rockets.

Adam Gray
Jay County – 2009
Played for the University of St. Francis men’s golf team as it finished third in a four-team match hosted by Indiana Tech.
Gray posted an 83 for the Cougars, who finished with a team score of 319. He was 20th overall in the event at Coyote Creek Golf Club.[[In-content Ad]]
