Rigby continues scoring streak

For nearly two months, no one has been able to slow down Tyler Rigby.
The 2006 Jay County High School graduate has been putting up 20-point games since mid-December and is closing in on 1,000 points for his career. His latest scoring barrage came Feb. 4 when he poured in 26 points for the Indiana University - East men's basketball team against Asbury College.
Rigby, who has scored at least 20 points in 12 straight games, shot 10-of-16 from the field and buried 4-of-6 3pointers in the loss to Asbury. He also had six rebounds, one steal and one block, and was named the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Player of the Week for the second time this season and fourth time in his career.
The junior, the Red Wolves' all-time leading scorer with 967 points, ranks 25th in NAIA Division II with 19.3 points per game this season. He is also 18th in 3-point percentage at 43.6, and averages 4.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
Casey Kenney
Jay County - 2009
Turned in a second-place finish for the University of Indianapolis wrestling team Sunday as it hosted the Greyhound Open.
Kenney, the No. 3 seed at 133 pounds, pinned DeCoreus Leavell of Campbellsville University in the opening round in 3 minutes, 42 seconds. He went on to upset Leavell's teammate, No. 2 seeded Daphilo Succes, by a 5-3 decision in the semifinals.
In the championship match, Tommy Pretty of Campbellsville pinned Kenney in 58 seconds.
Kenney also wrestled in U of I's 46-0 loss Feb. 4 against McKendree. He dropped a 12-2 major decision to Wade Lowe.
Cori Vormohr
Jay County - 2009
Placed fifth Saturday for the Ball State University women's swim team as it hosted Miami University.
Vormohr turned in a time of 1 minute, 10.63 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke to take fifth place. She also teamed with Shelli Kopetsky, Catherine Ingram and Kelly Johnson to place sixth in the 200 medley relay in 1:57.28.
She took part in a 200 yard individual medley time trial as well, finishing in 2:18.48.
Amanda Johnson
Jay County - 2008
Competed for the Indiana Wesleyan University women's track team Saturday at the Taylor Indoor Invitational.
Johnson finished in fifth place for the Wildcats with a time of 2 minutes, 25.45 seconds in the 800-meter run.
Joanna Snyder
Fort Recovery - 2009
Scored four points in each of the last two games for the Ohio Northern University women's basketball team.
Snyder came off the bench to hit a 3-pointer and a free-throw Feb. 3 in a 16-point win for the Polar Bears over Muskingum. She also had five rebounds, four steals and an assist in 15 minutes of play.
She finished with four points, two steals and a rebound Sunday as ONU lost 61-51 to Mount Union.
Dexter Shreve

Ran for the Kent State University men's track team Saturday at the Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame.
