Rigby leading Red Wolves (01/24/2009)

Collegiate Check-up

Three years ago Tyler Rigby was a key cog in leading the Jay County High School boys basketball team to the Class 3A state championship game. This season he has powered the IU-East men's basketball team to a dramatic turnaround.

The Red Wolves were just 9-19 in their first NAIA season a year ago, but with Rigby leading the team in scoring this season they have won five straight to sit at 15-6.

Rigby scored 11 points for IU-East in its lastest win, a 76-63 triumph over Cincinnati Christian on Jan. 17. He also had three rebounds, one assist and one steal for the Red Wolves.

The sophomore leads the team with a scoring average of 15.7 points per game and has hit 48 3-pointers this season.

Dustin Overton

Jay County - 2004

Hit all three shots - one from the field and two at the foul line - to help IU-East's men's basketball team to its win over Cincinnati Christian.

Overton also had one assist in the victory.

Jill Roughia

Jay County - 2005

Placed third in both of her races for the Huntington University women's track team Jan. 16 at meet one of the Ohio Northern Friday Night Series.

Roughia competed in the 1,000-meter run, finishing behind a pair of host Polar Bears with a time of 3-minutes, 16.4 seconds.

The senior also joined teammates Michelle Kyler, Bethany McGraw and Josann Schoeff for third palce in the 4x400 relay at 4:34.4.

Holly Stein

Fort Recovery - 2007

Scored in double figures for the Defiance College women's basketball team, which lost 83-80 Jan. 17 to Franklin.

Stein hit a pair of 3-pointers as she finished the game with 10 points. She also had two rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Ian Thomas

Mitchell Thomas

Jay County - 2005

Competed in the 3,000-meter run for the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's track team, which hosted the Terre Haute Double Dual on Jan. 16.

Ian Thomas placed fourth in the Division III 3,000-meter event at the four-team meet, crossing the finish line in 9-minutes, 6.24 seconds. His twin brother, Mitchell, followed in 13th place at 9:26.66.
