Rigby leads IU-East
Collegiate Check-up
A Jay County High School graduate has picked up right where he left off after leading the IU-East men's basketball team in scoring last season.
Tyler Rigby (2006) has shared the Red Wolves' team-high in scoring in each of their first two games.
The junior totaled 18 points in the IU-East season opener Friday, a 90-85 loss to host Southern Oregon. He added 17 points Saturday, including an 8-for-8 effort at the free-throw line, in a four-point loss to Oregon Institute of Technology.
Rigby also added three assists, two blocks and a steal against OIT.
Last season he was named IU-East's top male athlete and was selected to the All-Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team as he averaged 17 points per game and led the Red Wolves' to a school-record 23 wins.
Tiff Gaerke
Fort Recovery - 2007
Recorded the final two points of the second game, one on an ace, Sunday in the University of Dayton volleyball team's 25-13, 25-20, 29-31, 25-23 victory over Temple.
Gaerke also had five kills, two digs and two blocks. She added five kills, four digs and a block in a sweep of La Salle Monday as the Flyers improved to 22-3 overall and 11-1 in the Atlantic 10.
The junior totaled six kills, five digs, five blocks, an ace and an assist Friday in Dayton's 25-20, 19-25, 25-22, 23-25, 15-10 loss to Xavier.
Cori Vormohr
Jay County - 2009
Scored her first collegiate point Saturday in the Ball State University women's swim team's 153-141 victory over Bowling Green.
Vormohr was fifth in her lone individual event, posting a time of 1 minute, 9.98 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke. She also teamed with Emily Richards, Emily Collins and Jennifer Miles for fourth in the 400 medley relay at 4:09.34.
In a 155-43 loss Friday to Toledo, the freshman joined Kelly Johnson, Mallory Przybylinski and Katarina Faxe in placing fourth in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:47.36. Vormohr, Johnson, Collins and Shelli Kopetsky were sixth in the 200 medley relay in 1:53.63.
Maddie Moore
South Adams - 2009
Helped the Bluffton University women's soccer team match its best season in school history as the Beavers ended the 2009 season with a 1-0 win over Anderson.
Moore recorded one of Bluffton's 12 shots Saturday in the victory. She had four assists and one goal this season, and finished third on the team in shots (45) and shots on goal (21).
The Beavers finished 8-9 overall and 2-6 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Joseph Vormohr

Started at center for the Hanover College football team Saturday in its 30-27 victory over Defiance.
The Panthers picked up 117 yards rushing an 177 passing behind Vormohr and the rest of the offensive line. They led the game 27-13 through three quarters.[[In-content Ad]]
