Rigby named to All-America list

The NAIA recognized Tyler Rigby yet again for his outstanding season.
The 2006 Jay County High School graduate who plays basketball at Indiana University - East was named to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-America honorable mention list March 17.
Rigby ranked 10th in 3-point percentage in the NAIA's Division II at 43.5 percent and 23rd in scoring with 19.1 points per game. He had a run of 12 straight games this season in which he scored at least 20 points.
The junior was also among the nation's leaders in field-goal percentage (42nd - .516), total points (536) and 3-pointers per game (2.4).
Rigby became the Red Wolves all-time leading scorer this year, finishing the season with 1,079 points. He also holds school records for field goals (384) and 3-pointers (148).
Amber Edmundson
Jay County - 2008
Has picked up half of the Ancilla College softball team's wins thus far, including a victory Monday over Prairie State in Tucson, Ariz.
Edmundson shut down Prairie State, allowing just two hits over the course of the first five innings on the way to a 7-5 victory. She added a pair of RBIs in the win.
The sophomore's other win came March 19 when she tossed a four-hitter and gave up just one earned run in an 8-2 win over Wisconsin - LaCrosse. She also had a single and a run earlier in the day in the Chargers' 14-10 loss to Schreiner.
Edmundson had five other hits against Prairie State this year, two in a 13-9 loss Sunday and three in a 17-9 loss March 12.
Joseph Vormohr
Jay County - 2006
Opened his senior season with a pair of top-three finishes for the Hanover College men's track team at Saturday's Rose-Hulman Early Bird.
Vormohr earned the runner-up spot in the discus with a toss of 137 feet, 7 inches, outdistancing third-place finisher Greg Larmore of the host Engineers by four feet. He was also third in the shot put at 43 feet, 3 ΒΌ inches.
He also competed in the hammer throw, placing seventh with a toss of 114 feet, 4 inches.
Josh Atkinson
Jay County - 2006
Pitched the Manchester College baseball team to victory March 16 over Taylor.
Atkinson scattered six hits and two walks over seven innings, allowing just one earned run. He struck out a pair of Taylor batters en route to the 5-2 win.
He suffered his first loss of the season Saturday, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks in two innings of relief against Ohio Northern. He also had a pair of strike outs.
Jana Beitler
South Adams - 2009
Led the Goshen College softball team to a 5-3 victory March 16 over St. Mary's College.
Beitler singled and came around to score a run as part of the Maple Leafs' three-run fifth inning. She powered the offense, with two hits, a walk and a run.
Three days later the freshman shortstop had two of Goshen's three hits in a 7-0 loss to Saint-Mary's-of-the-Woods. She also walked and scored a run Tuesday in a 14-2 loss to St. Joseph's, and had two hits and an RBI March 16 in a 4-2 loss to St. Mary's.
Adam Gray
Jay County - 2009
Posted the No. 3 score for the Valparaiso University men's golf team Tuesday at the Butler Spring Invitational.
Gray shot a 77 at the 18-hole event hosted by Prestwick Country Club as the Crusaders finished sixth out of nine teams with a 307.
He tied for 25th overall with Matt Bird of Eastern Illinois and Andrew Luo of Evansville.

Ran for the Indiana Wesleyan University women's track team Saturday at the Wake Forest Open.
Johnson turned in a time of 2 minutes, 24.51 seconds in the 800-meter run. She finished 42nd in the field of 113 runners.[[In-content Ad]]
