Collegiate Check-up

In the first 22 games of the season Tyler Rigby, the leading scorer for the IU-East men's basketball team, cleared the 25-point barrier twice. Now he's done it twice in four days.

The Jay County High School graduate scored 26 points in back-to-back games, victories for the Red Wolves over Berea College and Ohio Christian University.

Rigby, who was named the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season, fell just a bit short of a double-double in the win over Berea Jan. 24 as he also grabbed eight rebounds. He added two assists and one steal.

The sophomore went 4-of-6 from long distance Tuesday against Ohio Christian and also had four rebounds, three blocks, one assist and one steal.

For the season, Rigby is averaging 16.6 points per game. He has hit 58 3-pointers, and is shooting just under 40-percent from beyond the arc.

He also averages 3.8 rebounds and has 43 assists, 24 steals and nine blocks on the year.

Fellow JCHS graduate Dustin Overton (2004) had two points, one rebound and one assist against Berea. He also had an assist in the victory over Ohio Christian.

She hit a foul shot to give the Yellow Jackets the lead with 11 seconds left, but Hanover's Holly Vogel hit the winning hoop eight seconds later.

The sophomore also had four rebounds, two assists and two steals in the loss.
