Rigby racks up 28 for IU East

Tyler Rigby was on fire from the field Sunday as he led the Indiana University East men’s basketball team to its fourth straight victory.
Rigby racked up 28 points as the Red Wolves defeated IU Northwest 95-77 to improve to 15-7 on the season.
The senior torched the nets as he shot 10-of-15 (67 percent) from the field, including 6-of-10 from 3-point range. He also shared the team high of seven rebounds, and added one assist, one block and one steal.
Rigby had six points, one rebound, one assist, one block and one steal Friday in IU East’s 97-49 victory over Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Saint Louis College of Pharmacy. The Red Wolves share the KIAC lead with IU Southeast as both teams are 5-1 in the league.
Averaging 19.2 points per game, Rigby ranks 24th in NAIA Division II in scoring. He adds 5.3 rebounds per game, along with 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals.

Pazia Speed
Jay County – 2010
Came off the bench to finish second in scoring for the Huntington University women’s basketball team Saturday in a 70-60 loss to Marian.
Speed went 3-of-4 from 3-point range as she finished with nine points for the Foresters. She added two rebounds, two assists and a steal.
The freshman also had two points, one rebound and one steal Jan. 19 in a 65-63 loss to Saint Francis.

Cori Vormohr
Jay County – 2009
Turned in a third-place finish to help the Ball State University women’s swim team to victory at Sunday’s five-team Butler Invitational.
Vormohr’s top individual effort came in the 100-yard breaststroke, where she turned in a time of 1 minute, 9.42 seconds to finish in third place. She also teamed with Mallory Przybylinski, Nikki Saulters and Haley Richter to win the 200 medley relay in 1:49.87.
The sophomore was also seventh in the 100 freestyle at 56.26 as the Cardinals finished more than 200 points ahead of runner-up Xavier.
In Ball State’s 152.5-147.5 dual-meet loss Saturday to Mid-American Conference rival Miami, Vormohr was fourth in the 100 breaststroke at 1:08.36 and fifth in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:28.25. Her teams finished fourth in the 200 medley relay and fifth in the 400 freestyle relay.


Joanna Snyder
Fort Recovery – 2009
Finished perfect from the field Saturday in the Ohio Northern University women’s basketball team’s 52-50 loss to Muskingum.
Snyder hit all of her three field-goal attempts and finished with eight points for the Polar Bears (12-6, 7-4 Ohio Athletic Conference). She added two rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal.
The sophomore also had five points, three rebounds, three assists and a block Wednesday as ONU fell 79-65 to Otterbein.

Brandon Reynard
Jay County – 2009
Recorded a third-place finish for the Indiana Tech men’s track team at this weekend’s Mike Lints Alumni Open hosted by Grand Valley State.
Reynard blazed the track in the 400-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 49.79 seconds. He also finished 19th in the 60 dash in 7.28.

Dexter Shreve
Jay County – 2009
Helped the Kent State University men’s track team to a third-place finish out of 14 teams this weekend as the Golden Flashes hosted the All-Ohio Indoor Championships. Ohio State was first, and Akron finished second.
Shreve finished fourth in the heptathlon on the strength of his efforts in the high jump and pole vault. He finished second in both, clearing the bar at heights of 6 feet, 4 inches and 13 feet, 9¼ inches respectively.
He was also third in the heptathlon 60-meter dash, 60-meter hurdles and long jump.
The sophomore scored 5,026 points in the event overall for his fourth-place finish.[[In-content Ad]]
