Rigby scores 31 in KIAC semi (03/07/2009)

Tyler Rigby carried the IU-East men's basketball team to its first conference tournament win Feb. 27.
The 2006 Jay County High School graduate racked up a season-high 31 points to lead the Red Wolves to an 89-72 win in the semifinal round of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. His former teammate, Dustin Overton (2004), also scored in double figures in the victory.
Rigby was on fire in the first half, hitting four 3-pointers and scoring 22 points as IU-East shot 65 percent and built a 17-point lead. He finished 7-of-11 from 3-point range.
In addition to the sophomore's season-high scoring total - his previous high was 26 points - he also had two assists and one rebound.
Overton played 26 minutes off the bench, scoring 11 points. He led the Red Wolves with eight rebounds and also had two assists and two steals.
IU-East (23-9) went on to lose the KIAC championship game a day later, falling 87-58 to IU-Southeast (23-7).
Rigby totaled eight points, two rebounds and one assist in the title game. Overton added tow points, three rebounds and two assists.

Tossed a scoreless inning of relief for the IPFW baseball team Thursday in at 14-2 loss to No. 14 Coastal Carolina.
Shatto entered the game to start the fifth inning with the Mastodons already trailing 8-0. He retired the side in order, getting one strikeout and two ground outs.
