Rockets run over Recovery
FRHS football
FORT RECOVERY - Sometimes a single stat tells the whole story: Anna had only two third-down plays Friday as it rolled over Fort Recovery 56-28.
The visiting Rockets jumped out to an insurmountable 21-0 lead in the first quarter, and though the Indians rallied in the second it was 35-12 at the half. The Indians battled gamely in the third to pull within 49-28. But it was far too little too late.
Fort Recovery racked up 323 yards of offense while Anna posted 393 yards, most of it on the ground.
The bright spot for Fort Recovery was the passing game, which saw Greg Kahlig complete 23-of-34 attempts for 273 yards and three Indian touchdowns. He also scored Fort Recovery's fourth touchdown of the night on a 14-yard run. He was the Indians' leading rusher for the evening with 149 yards on 24 carries.
Cody Fiely with four receptions for 77 yards and Michael Gaerke with six catches for 73 yards were his favorite receivers.
Kahlig was intercepted once in the first quarter, giving up a touchdown to Anna's Derek Billing.
But Anna's ground game was the key as the Rockets averaged 8.5 yards per play and racked up 21 first downs, 15 of them by the run. Anna saw positive yardage from six different ball carriers, led by Kameron Knight's 154 yards and four TDs on 18 carries.[[In-content Ad]]
