Rokita pays visit to Jay Co. (11/20/06)
By By MARY ANN LEWIS-
Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita paid a brief visit to Jay County Commissioners today.
Rokita was in Portland to talk with Jay County Clerk Jane Ann Runyon about the recent election's problems or concerns and visited commissioners briefly before leaving for Huntington.
"I want to compliment Jay County for its efficiency at the polls and its voting procedures," Rokita told commissioners.
He said he visits each of the state's 92 counties annually and this was his visit to Jay County.

Additionally today, commissioners Milo Miller Jr., Gary Theurer, and Faron Parr said they wanted to meet in executive session with members of the Jay County Council and recently elected sheriff Ray Newton to discuss a salary contract.
Commissioners attorney Brad Burkett, contacted by phone this morning, said he has not been asked to research whether a closed-door session could be held to discuss the contract issue.
Burkett said he planned to research the issue this afternoon.
The executive session has been tentatively set at 6:30 p.m. with the regular meeting to follow at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13.[[In-content Ad]]
