Bitter-cold temperatures are plauging the area. But Jill Roughia has already started her 2009 track season.
The 2005 Jay County High School graduate opened the indoor track season with a pair of runner-up individual finishes and a relay victory Jan. 10 as her Huntington University women's track team hosted the Frozen Forest Invitational.
Roughia's victory came in the 4x400-meter relay in which she teamed with Michelle Kyler, Bethany McGraw and Josann Schoeff for a winning time of 3-minutes, 51.42 seconds.
The senior finished second in the 800 run less than three seconds behind Jessi Bremer of Manchester in 2:40.43. She was also second in the 1,600 run with a time of 6:07.
Tyler Rigby

Led the IU-East men's basketball team to a 70-65 victory Thursday over Taylor-Fort Wayne.
Rigby buried three 3-pointers as part of a 21-point effort, the sixth time he has scored 20 points or more for the Red Wolves this season. He also had two steals, one assist and one rebound.
He also had nine points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal in a 92-60 win Jan. 10 over Holy Cross.
Dustin Overton
Jay County - 2004
Also contributed to the pair of IU-East wins this week.
Overton totaled five points and three rebounds in the victory over Holy Cross. He also made both of hits field goal attempts against Taylor-Fort Wayne as he finished with four points and one rebound.
Holly Stein
Fort Recovery - 2007
Was the leading scorer for the Defiance College women's basketball team in each of its last two games.
Stein totaled 13 points for the Yellow Jackets Wednesday night in a 72-57 loss to College of Mount St. Joseph. She also had 12 rebounds for a double-double, and one assist.
On Jan. 10, Stein totaled 12 points, eight rebounds and one assist as Defiance fell 58-51 to Anderson.[[In-content Ad]]
