Salamonia board rejects sewer work quote (10/25/05)
SALAMONIA — A special meeting of the town board was over quickly, as board members rejected the only quote received for a proposed sewer expansion project.
The town board, which had solicited quotes from three area companies, was advised to reject the one quote it actually received, from LPI Paving & Excavating of Portland.
That quote on hooking up two homes to the town’s sewer system was more than $25,000, clerk-treasurer Connie Southworth said this morning.
John Coldren, who serves as the town’s attorney, said today that Indiana law requires that public works projects costing more than $25,000 be done as a formal bid process.
Coldren said he has advised town officials they may negotiate directly with other companies that install sewer lines in an attempt to bring the price under the $25,000 limit.[[In-content Ad]]
