Saying thanks to a variety of people (07/17/07)

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:

Thanks so very much to the nurses, aides and other helpers on the second floor of Jay County Hospital for the great care and concern shown during the three weeks of my recent hospital stay.

Great catch

To the editor:

I would like to publicly thank the Portland Police Department, specifically Investigator Todd Wickey, for his perserverance in locating a skidloader that was rented from my store and not returned. Mr. Wickey spent hours in Marion pursuing this equipment and its rentors, and was successful in obtaining the machine.

The police department has also checked my doors during off hours, called me at my home to advise me of possible problems, and checked my lot to make sure equipment was not being stolen. The same can be said for the sheriff's department. Thank you.

I truly appreciate your service to our community.

Great service

To the editor:

One often hears people say that they can't deal with local automobile dealerships. They say they have to go out of town or out of state to get a good deal. I for one am glad that I deal with the local dealership, and here is why.

At the first of the year, my wife and I leased a new vehicle from Grimm Pontiac-Buick-GMC in Winchester. Unknown to myself and the dealership, the vehicle came with a defective manual transmission. When I took the truck in to have the service department diagnose the problem, GMC issued a service bulletin that there had been a problem with this model of transmission. Until that time my dealership had not been informed that there was a problem with this unit. I expressed to Nancy McFarland, service manager, my displeasure with the situation. Nancy assured me that she and her husband Gary would do everything they could to rectify the situation.

I am pleased to say that their word is their bond. They pursued General Motors to correct the situation. This last week I was released from my lease and was given a new lease for a new vehicle. By dealing within the community with people you see everyday allows us as customers to be able to have faith that we will be treated always in a fair way.

I would also like to thank Jeff Winningham, our sales representative, who stood by us through this ordeal. Most car salesmen forget you after the deal is completed. Not so with Jeff. He stayed in contact with us through the whole process and ordered a vehicle that he knew would meet our needs.

Sincerely,

Robert L. Nash
