Schoenherr tosses no-hitter vs. Jets (04/10/06)
FRHS baseball
FORT RECOVERY — Kevin Schoenherr had a blast Saturday.
The Fort Recovery junior was one of many offensive stars in game one. In game two he left the Jets seeing stars.
Schoenherr tossed a no-hitter in the second game of the double-header as the Indian baseball team swept the Fairlawn Jets 15-5 and 20-0, both in five innings.
The Jets had no chance in the second game as Schoenherr allowed just three base-runners — two walks and one hit-by-pitch — in five innings. He struck out six batters.
He also had a single, an RBI and three runs.
In game one Schoenherr finished 2-for-2 with a double and a stolen base. He scored three runs and drove in two.
There was plenty of offense for the Indians in both games as they racked up 30 hits in just 10 innings, scoring five runs in the first inning of the opening game and eight in the first inning of game two.
Joining Schoenherr with two hits apiece in game one were Steve Trobridge, Chris Galdeen and Curt Heitkamp. Heitkamp had a double, and Galdeen scored three times.
Bobby Rammel picked up the victory, improving to 2-0. He gave up just one run on one hit in four innings while striking out four.
Rammel keyed the offense as Schoenherr tossed the no-no, going 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles. He added three runs, one RBI and one stolen base.
Heitkamp followed with three hits, including a double, and Trobridge, Galdeen and Troy Metzger added two hits apiece. Heitkamp notched four RBIs, and Trobridge drove in three runs.[[In-content Ad]]
