Applications for the Jay County Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship are now available.
Students interested in the scholarship, which provides full tuition, fees and an annual stipend for any Indiana college or university, must complete an application by Jan. 4.
Jay County residents who will graduate from an Indiana high school in 2011 are eligible for the scholarship. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) and must have been accepted by a college or university to begin studies in the fall of 2011.
Applicants are scored in the areas of academics, financial need, activities and a written essay. Those applications must be submitted on or before Jan. 4, 2011, at 5 p.m. to The Portland Foundation, 112 E. Main St., Portland, IN 47371.
Applications will be submitted to Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI), which will make the final selection of the scholarship recipient(s).
The scholarship provides full tuition, required fees and a special allocation of up to $800 per year for required books and equipment for four years of full-time undergraduate study leading to a degree at any Indiana public or private college or university accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
