Scouts say thanks for D.C. trip

To the editor:
On June 9, 2012 over 250,000 Girl Scouts young and old came together in Washington D.C. to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts. Our Jay County Girl Scouts were there among other scouts from all over the world!
We would like to thank everyone in the Jay County community who supported us with our fundraisers, donations and sponsorships!
A big thank you to the local clubs, organizations and businesses that donated money towards our bus costs so that we could keep the trip available and affordable to any Girl Scout that wanted to attend this once in a lifetime opportunity. Thank you Josie Shatto, Dawn Milligan and the West Jay Community Center for hosting our last fundraiser, a Zumbathon before the trip. It was a wonderful success and such a fun time!
We would also like to thank Girl Scout leader JoEllen Pettyjohn, a former Dunkirk resident that now lives in the D.C. area. Her troop paired up with our girls to make our DC Metro train experience a fun and safe one!
During our trip our girls also visited the National Zoo, the Smithsonian Museums, Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, Arlington Cemetery and viewed a very special placing of the wreath by a sister Girl Scout Troop. Thank you again to all those whose help and support made this once in a lifetime experience a reality for so many Jay County Girl Scouts!
