Send-off for chief appreciated (10/7/03)

Fellow firefighters and friends of Jon Bill Luttman.

We write this letter with much sadness over the loss of our friend, our mentor, and our chief, Jon Bill Luttman. Jon has been well-respected and loved by firemen throughout the county. We know that his nearly 20-year term as chief of the Redkey Volunteer Fire Department has brought him into contact with many of you.

We would like to express our appreciation to the many volunteer firemen, EMS workers, and police officers county-wide who joined us to pay tribute to Jon. It was truly a magnificent sight to see the many blue and red lights lining the highway as Jon rode his last fire truck to the cemetery. We were touched by the overwhelming support that came from each of the other Jay County departments.

Thank you for standing with us to pay tribute to a great man!
